THINK AND GROW RICH | BONUS LESSON
The Concept of Self-Suggestion
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we're reading the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last time we discussed how to master procrastination, today we will look at Autosuggestion, the ways to influence our mind.
Most of us use self-talk regularly, but we do it unconsciously. This lesson will bring self-talk to the surface and help us to choose our dominating thoughts.
Hill writes, "Autosuggestion is the agency of control through which an individual may voluntarily feed his subconscious mind on thoughts of a creative nature, or, by neglect, permit thoughts of a destructive nature to find their way into this rich garden of the mind."
We can use self-suggestion to concentrate on possibilities in our lives, or we can unconsciously self-sabotage. It is a choice we make daily. Our dominating thoughts, positive or negative, influence our subconscious minds and propel us towards our aims in life.
If we want to generate higher income in our life, but our thoughts negate that idea, it will be difficult to create what Hill calls 'Money Consciousness.' It might take some time to become aware of the pattern of our destructive thoughts, but awareness of self-talk and persistence in changing it will move us into that consciousness.
Hill knew that we become what we are because of our dominating thoughts and desires. And he used the self-suggestion idea to change himself into the person that he wanted to be. He created a nightly imaginary cabinet meeting with some of the greatest men in history. These imaginary meetings helped him get clarity, understanding, knowledge, abilities, patience, persistence, and faith. He says that this process led him to the beautiful adventure of his life and work.
In short, self-suggestion will help us master our experience in life!
"If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it - then I can achieve it." Muhamad Ali.
Autosuggestion is positive self-talk that will help us achieve any goal we set. The technique allows us to become aware of your internal dialogue and channels these thoughts and beliefs into positive and life-affirming self-talk.
Some techniques to develop self-suggestion are affirmations, meditation, and visualization.
Start practicing positive self-talk today. If you catch yourself saying something negative about your abilities or goals, change it into something positive. And always speak to yourself as if you would talk to a good friend.
Success and wealth come to people focused on their goal, determined to achieve it, who teach their minds to stay positive. Using positive self-talk will give us the power to create the life of our dreams.
We can begin to think and grow rich today!
That's all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what's possible.

Think and grow rich | Day 7
Decision Making, How to Master Procrastination
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we're reading the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last time we discussed persistence, today we are looking at Decision - The Mastery of Procrastination.
Decision-making is essential skill leaders and successful people have in common. Some of us are quick to make decisions, while others have a hard time making even the most minor decisions.
Hill wrote: "Procrastination, the opposite of decision, is a common enemy which practically everyone must conquer."
When analyzing wealthy, successful people, each one had the habit of making quick decisions.
Hill describes wealthy industrialist Henry Ford's most outstanding quality: making decisions quickly and changing them slowly. The quality was so prominent in the way he worked that he earned the reputation of being obstinate. That quality had him continue to manufacture the Model T car when his advisors urged him to change it. He may have taken his time deciding, but it earned him a vast fortune.
Most people are slow to make decisions and listen to other's opinions a little too often. So keep your own counsel and reach your conclusions. One way is by listening more and talking less. And only share your goals with your Mastermind group whom you have chosen well.
We all have certain people in our lives who are quick to tell us that we cannot; Your plan will not work. Your idea is not good. Your product or service will not succeed. You are not good enough, or how dare you think you can do what I couldn't. And so on and so on.
Stay away from naysayers, even if it means not discussing your goals with "well-meaning" family members or friends. Instead, use your mastermind group to bounce ideas, discuss actions, get advice, and celebrate successes. Discuss goals with the experts in your field and those who believe in you and want you to succeed.
"The most difficult thing is the decision to act; the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its reward." - Amelia Earhart.
How do we get better at making decisions? Practice!
Begin by making small decisions quickly, and don't question them.
Look at the challenge you are facing and write down possible responses.
Evaluate it. Pros and cons lists help.
Get feedback from your mastermind group.
Select an option, implement and assess in time.
Complement yourself for a quick decision!
That's all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what's possible.

Think and grow rich | Day 6
Persistence is Key
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we're reading the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last time we discussed Imagination, today we are looking at persistence.
Here is how Hill explains it: "Persistence is the essential factor into transmuting desire into its financial equivalent... Without persistence, you will be defeated, even before you start. With persistence, you will win."
Hill tells the story of the vaudeville comedian W.C. Fields who lost all his money during the depression. He was past sixty and had no job and no income. He was so desperate for a break that he offered to work for free in a new field, the movies. Fields was persistent and knew that he would get his big break if he kept going, and he went on to star in many films and is considered a comic genius alongside Chaplin and Keaton!
Most people are ready to give up on their dreams at the first sight of failure. And yes, it is hard to continue when there are setbacks. Persistence is a quality that we need to adopt, a sustained effort to continue despite disappointments. Will power is part of persistence, and when we mix desire with willpower and add the component of persistence, nothing will stop us.
If persistence eludes you, Hill suggests using your mastermind group's 'Power' and developing your persistence muscle.
Remember that we must have a strong desire to achieve our goal. Indifference will not get you across the finishing line.
One of the greatest basketball players ever, Michael Jordan, says: "I've missed 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost 300 games. I missed 26' game-winning" shots. I failed over and over in my life, and that is why I am so successful."
Jordan used persistence to keep on going no matter the upsets. Hill believes that each setback brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage.
If things are not working out the way you expected, look at the plan you created, reconfigure it, discuss it with your power posse and begin again. Keep going with continued effort, and treat each setback as temporary.
Persistence is vital on the way to outstanding achievements. Giving up because you didn't achieve your goal in a day, a month, or a year is not an option on the way to realizing your dreams.
Let's be bold, continue with our plan of action, and the next time we are faced with disappointment, let's remember that it is temporary, and we can keep on going.
Like W. C. Fields, we can reinvent our lives no matter the setbacks.
That's all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what's possible.

Think and Grow Rich | Day 5
The Workshop of the Mind
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we're reading the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last time we discussed the Mastermind Alliance concept, today we are drawing inspiration from imagination - the workshop of the mind.
Here is how Hill describes it: "The Imagination is literally the workshop wherein are fashioned all plans created by man... It has been said that man can create anything which he can imagine."
Hill tells the story of a young drug store clerk who gave his entire life savings of $500 to an old country doctor. The doctor sold him an old-fashioned kettle, a wooden paddle, and a piece of paper with a secret formula. The clerk chanced his entire savings on a scrap of paper and an old kettle.
He purchased a single idea, mixed it with the secret ingredient of imagination, and created the Coca-Cola company.
The use of imagination has two forms: Synthetic Imagination, where you rearrange old ideas into new combinations. And Creative Imagination where the limited mind has direct access to Infinite Intelligence. This comes through inspiration, new ideas, plans, and intuition.
Titans of industry, great artists, writers, musicians, and financial leaders have developed their creative imaginations to achieve great success and wealth. Steve Jobs took things that already existed and imagined new uses for them. Walt Disney imagined new ways to entertain the world. Sara Blakely reimagined pantyhose to create the Spanx company. They all built global empires by using the power of imagination.
Your desire is a thought, but to move it into the level of accomplishment, success, and the Money you desire, you must use the power of creative imagination.
We all think and feel a certain way, which translates into our life experience. When we have a goal in mind, we can use the power of imagination to envision a new life. We will move into action, a new consciousness, and a new life experience.
Successful people create clear mental images of their goal and see their desire; they know how to move towards it.
"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions." - Albert Einstein.
Are you ready to apply the power of imagination to your life? Here is a simple exercise to use after this lesson.
Find a place and a time where you can get quiet for a few minutes.
Choose something that you want or your burning desire.
Close your eyes and take deep breaths.
Imagine what you want by feeling that you already have it. Use all your senses. What will it feel like, what will you hear, see, touch, smell?
Take a few minutes imagining.
Open your eyes.
Did you see a preview of your life's coming attractions?
That's all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what's possible.

Think and Grow Rich | Day 4
The MasterMind Alliance Principle
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we're reading the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last time we discussed the concept of Faith. Today, we are looking at the Power of the Mastermind Alliance.
Hill defines the MasterMind alliance as: "Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose... No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind."
Hill was personally introduced to the Master Mind principle through Andrew Carnegie, who came to the U.S. with nothing and became the richest man. Carnegie's MasterMind group had 50 individuals, which he surrounded himself with, for the definite purpose of manufacturing, marketing, and selling steel. He credits his entire fortune to this Mastermind group.
How does power relate to success and wealth? It is the ability to act or produce an effect, and it is necessary for the attainment and retention of wealth. You can apply power through the 'MasterMind Alliance.'
It seems that surrounding yourself with talented people who share your vision is exponentially more powerful than just one.
The power discussed in this lesson refers to an organized effort by two or more people to work towards goals in the spirit of cooperation.
According to Hill, power can increase through 'organized knowledge' from these three sources: Infinite Intelligence, accumulated experience, and experiment and research.
Yes, you can do it alone, but you might give up on your goal when the going gets tough. Power comes by surrounding yourself with like-minded people who plan, organize and support the effort to bring a desire to fruition.
Think of a MasterMind group as a place where you can receive feedback on your plan and action, brainstorm ideas, get specific knowledge, sharpen your abilities, receive support and be accountable for your efforts.
It will keep you focused on your purpose, bring improvements in your work and finances, and move you towards your goal in the spirit of mutual support.
The billionaire Warren Buffett says, "It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours, and you'll drift in that direction."
How can you apply this concept today? Think of a person in your life who will be a good fit for your mastermind group. Send an email or text and see if this person can get together to support visions and goals for the future.
We all need friendly contact with like-minded people for expansion and growth. This group will bring power, creativity, and support that you cannot have when you go at it alone. It helps create a place to nurture ideas for prosperity and the realization of your goals.
That's all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what's possible.

Think and Grow Rich | Day 3
The Concept of Faith
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we’re reading the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last time we discussed planning for success. Today, we are looking at the concept of Faith; belief in realizing your desire.
Here is how Hill describes it, “Faith is the “eternal elixir” which gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought!”.
He tells the story of Charles M. Schwab, who at 38 helped negotiate the secret sale of Carnegie Steel to a group of New York financiers and became the first President of the United States Steel Corporation.
His idea and the Faith in conveying it to J.P. Morgan and others created a giant, powerful and prosperous company that employed thousands of people, opened new markets, and earned him great riches. A dramatic story of a desire and Faith that was transmuted into reality.
How can we develop Faith? According to Hill, Faith is a state of mind that you can develop through repeating self-suggestions and affirmations.
Begin by believing in yourself and your goal, as Faith is the starting point for all success and wealth and a known antidote for failure. This continued belief is the extra element that transforms your thoughts and propels you into action and success.
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Martin Luther King Jr.
Thoughts mixed with positive emotions create a ‘magnetic’ force and propels a person towards fulfilling desire.
Reading the ‘Desire’ statement daily, as if you already have your financial goal, is a way to induce your mind to believe that it is attainable. There is much power in stating your intentions aloud.
It is important to encourage positive emotion as the dominating thoughts in your mind. Fill yourself with positive feelings, and it will produce the Faith you are seeking.
Thought guides action, according to William James, and if you don’t believe in yourself and your ability to succeed, you won’t do what it takes. Strong self-belief supports higher levels of resilience. So, if you think you’ll succeed, you will have control over your thoughts, feelings, and actions. And what transpires is you will apply effort and persistence and achieve what you set out to!
The power of Faith created miracles in the lives of many throughout history. Take a few minutes after this lesson to think of how you can allow for Faith in yourself and your ability to do great things. This power is within you, perhaps asleep, but you can awaken yourself to self-belief, Faith, and achievements.
That’s all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what’s possible.

Think and Grow Rich | Day 2
Planning For Success
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we’re being inspired by the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Last time we talked about Desire. Today, we’re looking at Organized Planning, the Crystallization of Desire into Action.
We learned that anything you can create begins with desire, and you decide on your goals at the end of the last lesson.
Here is what Hill writes: “Intelligent planning is essential for success in any undertaking designed to accumulate wealth… and if your first plan fails - try another”.
Having a burning desire for certain success, income, or money in the bank, is the beginning. It is now time to create a definite plan and take action.
How does one build a practical plan?
Hill writes that the knowledge of your desire, what you will give, and the exact date for its accomplishment, will move you into ‘the workshop of imagination’, where plans are created and organized.
A major part of the definite plan is to have a Master Mind group to meet with regularly to support the creation and the carrying out of your plan.
If the first plan you created does not work, Hill suggests replacing it with an alternative plan, and if this alternative plan doesn’t work, replace it with another, and so on and so forth. Setbacks are common, but the successful person is the one who does not give up and doesn’t let temporary setbacks derail them - and all setbacks are temporary on the way to fulfillment.
No person is ever ‘completely dominated’ until they quit in their own mind, so don’t give up before the miracle!
Our author tells the story of James J. Hill of the Great Northern Railway, who met with temporary defeat when he first tried to raise capital to build a railroad from East to West, but then created new meticulous plans and turned defeat into victory. He amassed great wealth and became a philanthropist.
The writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote: “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
You have gone beyond wishing; you have a desire and a definite plan - you can take small incremental steps towards the accomplishment of your goal.
S.M.A.R.T. goals will keep you on track:
Specific - a clear, specific endpoint.
Measurable - a way to track your progress.
Attainable - a goal that is possible for you to meet by the date you have on your plan.
Relevant - it relates to the goal of your most ardent desire.
Time-Bound - set the time frame for fulfilling your goal, to help you focus.
Take a moment to write your S.M.A.R.T goals today and begin with taking one small action towards your desire.
That’s all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what’s possible.

Think and grow rich | Day 1
The Power of Burning Desire
Welcome back to Imagine Money, a short daily lesson to help us all think better so we can live better. This week we’re reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Today, we are looking at burning desire.
“A burning desire to be and to do is the starting point from which the dreamer must take off,” Napoleon Hill writes. ”Dreams are not born of indifference, laziness, or lack of ambition.”
We all have hopes and dreams, but the desire Hill discusses is a consuming obsession. This burning, pulsating, definite desire surpasses all other thoughts and propels one to action until the desired outcome is a reality.
Hill tells the story of a group of merchants who lost their businesses in the great Chicago fire. As they stood in front of their burned stores, they conferred on whether to rebuild or leave Chicago; all but one decided to leave.
The merchant who decided to stay pointed at the remains of his store and said, “Gentlemen, on that very spot, I will build the world’s greatest store, no matter how many times it may burn down.” The Marshall Field store he built stands there today (Macy’s acquired it in 2005) - a powerful reminder of a burning desire.
Hill discusses the six ways to turn your desire into reality:
Envision the exact amount of money you desire.
Decide what you will give in return.
Select the date by when you will have it.
Create a definite plan and begin taking action.
Write a statement describing the details.
Read it out loud daily, believing in your accomplishment.
Wishing for money is shared among all who understand its usefulness. At one point in our lives, we all have said, ‘I wish I had more money,’ but the concept of a specific monetary desire transcends wishful thinking. It moves us into the field of planning, action, persistence, and a state of mind that refuses to accept anything but the success and money we desire.
The businessman and philanthropist W. Clement Stone said:
“You can develop a burning desire to succeed. How? Keep your mind on the things you want and off the things you don’t want.”
Hill believed that desire is the starting point of all achievement and prosperity. There is excellent research on the power of setting goals for career and finances, and the value of writing your goals down.
Do you have a desire or goals? If not, take a few minutes after this lesson and ask yourself: what do I desire? What do I want my financial reality to be? Take a moment to write a desire or goal statement.
If you have a burning desire, take a moment to decide what you will do for it, create a plan, and begin with one action. Keep your statement on your phone or taped to your bathroom mirror and read it aloud daily. But most of all, believe that it’s possible!
That’s all for today. Until next time, keep imagining what’s possible.
